My time in the PMO team - an insight into my training

25. Mär 2026

Hi everyone, my name is Luca Ivascenko, I am 21 years old and have been part of the company since 2023. I'm currently in the third year of my apprenticeship as an e-commerce merchant. In my free time, I love playing soccer - so teamwork and communication are important to me not only at work, but also in my private life.

My training as an e-commerce merchant

My apprenticeship as an e-commerce merchant at BAUR is all about digital commerce and the processes behind it. The job combines traditional commercial content with digital topics such as online marketing, store management, data analysis and strategic sales planning.
Typical tasks include:
the analysis of sales figures and key performance indicators, the planning and optimization of online marketing measures, the maintenance and further development of online stores,
and the development of digital sales strategies.
E-commerce means much more than just "selling products online". It is about understanding processes, making data-based decisions and strategically developing digital business models.

My involvement in the PMO team

During my training, I went through different stations at BAUR, but also at empiriecom and was therefore assigned to the empiriecom PMO team from the beginning of September to the end of February. During these six months, I was able to gain many new impressions and an exciting insight into project-oriented and strategic working methods.
The PMO (Project Management Office) provides structural and organizational support for projects within the company. Planning, coordination, documentation and monitoring of projects play an important role in this.

My tasks and experiences
A large part of my tasks was in the area of social media analysis. I regularly evaluated our LinkedIn and Instagram channels, analyzed key figures and monitored developments. Among other things, this involved evaluating the reach, interactions and performance of individual posts. I was also involved in the creation of social media posts, which gave me practical insights into content planning and branding.
As part of the regular meetings, I took part in the PMO Weekly, where current topics in the department were discussed. I was also part of the Branding Weekly, which focused on social media strategies and communication measures. Here I was able to contribute my analyses and better understand how data-based decisions are made in marketing.
In addition to social media topics, my day-to-day work also included traditional commercial tasks. These included, for example:
-Creating and revising presentations,
-Supporting with projects (e.g. collecting and evaluating customer feedback for our Innody)
-Smaller organizational tasks in day-to-day business.
A particular highlight for me was the "Train Your Skills" workshop, which focused on teamwork, communication and personal development. I was able to gain valuable impulses there, especially with regard to teamwork and appearance in the team.
There were also voluntary English lessons in the department, which I was able to attend several times. This definitely helped me to further improve my language skills and gain more confidence in a professional context.

My conclusion

My time in the PMO team was very instructive for me. Not only was I able to expand my knowledge of analysis and social media, but I also learned a lot about project work, team communication and structured working methods.
The combination of independent tasks, regular team meetings and additional training opportunities was particularly valuable for me. Overall, working in the PMO team was an exciting and varied part of my training, from which I can take a lot of experience with me for my future career.
