When Paula decided to train as an e-commerce clerk in 2021, she did not yet know whether she would find her place in this field and was not averse to starting a degree course after graduating. She was definitely pleasantly surprised that she found the team she wanted to stay with during the various stages of her training.

During her apprenticeship at BAUR, Paula worked in numerous departments. She got to know Purchasing, Category Management, Shop Management, Online Marketing and Controlling and realized that as exciting as the departments were, working in rigid patterns and only with numbers was simply not Paula's thing.
Paula also wanted to be able to express herself creatively, contribute ideas and act flexibly - and it was precisely these opportunities that she found in the then UCD (User-Centered Design, now UX Research) team when she was at empiriecom.
Although the UCD station at empiriecom only lasted a few months, she quickly realized that she felt very comfortable both in the team and with the tasks. This feeling was mainly due to the fact that she was generally trusted to do a lot, she was able to try out many things and knew that someone would always be there to help her.
She also carried out her project for her final oral exam in the UCD team: a usability test for BAUR's career website, which she managed together with two other trainees and of course with the active support of her experienced UCD colleague. After this project at the latest, Paula knew that if she was to be taken on after graduation, she would definitely want to work in this department.
After all the stations, all the insights and a successful final project, Paula still had the written exams ahead of her. And although she prepared very intensively for them (a sense of confidence in exam situations is essential for Paula), her result surprised even herself. And with a degree that crowned her Bavaria's best e-commerce clerk, nothing stood in the way of her being taken on.
On August 1, 2024, Paula was finally able to join empiriecom's UX Research team on a permanent basis. The transition from the trainee role to full responsibility was a challenge, but the team made it as easy as possible for her. For Paula, the mutual support and the knowledge that someone is always there when things get tricky are key reasons why she feels so comfortable at empiriecom and appreciates working there so much.
Today, she is mainly responsible for the BAUR community, for which she develops new surveys, evaluates them and presents the results in order to initiate further developments - actively supported by working student Basti.
In addition to joint projects with Aileen, Paula recently took over the project management of a usability test for the first time, which was a new challenge despite good preparation, which Paula met with a lot of commitment and of course the support of her team!
With the merger of the UXUI and UCD teams last year, collaboration between the teams has also become much closer. This opens up new opportunities to share knowledge and develop innovative approaches. For Paula, it is essential not to get stuck in day-to-day business, but to actively seize opportunities for change and creative processes. She wants to try things out for herself and continue to develop - an attitude that suits empiriecom perfectly.
